California suspect arrested following high-speed police chase

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - The driver who led deputies on a brief high-speed chase through Canyon Country was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon.

The driver was in a stolen silver pickup truck out of Lancaster, and reached speeds up to nearly 100 mph on surface streets in the area.

A deputy approached the vehicle on a Palmdale street, and the suspect attempted to run the deputy over. The suspect then fled southbound on State Route 14 until exiting in the Canyon Country area on surface streets.

The suspect also collided with a CHP vehicle during the pursuit. Police said use of force was used to detain the suspect.
