Twitter’s “X” sign removed, social media company fined

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The giant glowing 'X' sign atop Twitter's office in San Francisco has been removed.

The company is now being fined for installing the logo on the roof without a permit.

According to the Department of Building Inspection in San Francisco, a notice of violation was issued to the property owner of the X headquarters on Friday.

Residents in the area were also not pleased, as the sign pulsated light, illuminating the surrounding buildings.

The City Building Deparment had logged at least 24 complaints after the new logo went up.
