Fans mourn Paul Reubens at his Hollywood Walk of Fame

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Flowers were placed at the star of Paul Reubens on the Hollywood Walk of Fame following his death.

Reubens, best known for playing the part of Pee-Wee Herman, died at the age of 70 on Sunday.

A statement posted on Facebook and Instagram said the actor "bravely and privately fought cancer for years with his trademark tenacity and wit."

The statement also included a posthumous message from the actor which said, "Please accept my apology for not going public with what I've been facing the last six years."

Reubens was nominated for three emmys for his portrayal of Pee-Wee Herman.
