California woman who was kidnapped in Mexico headed home

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - An American woman who was kidnapped in Mexico is now headed back home.

In a social media post Saturday, the FBI said that Monica de Leon Barba, who was kidnapped eight months ago in Jalisco while walking her dog, is safe and on the way home. The agency said her captors released her Thursday night.

The FBI said, "No arrests have been made, and an investigation into the identity of her captors remains ongoing."

The FBI previously said it was offering up to $40,000 for information leading toward locating her.
