California firefighters battle several brush fires

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Fire crews are battling several brush fires in Southern California.

Residents in parts of Riverside County have been ordered to evacuate due to the flames.

According to Cal Fire, a fire burning near a Beaumont neighborhood has scorched hundreds of acres, and was unconfined as of Friday evening, nearby the so-called "Rabbit Fire" burned 600 acres along a local highway.

The blaze sent a large plume of smoke billowing into the sky. Fire officials said it was not immediately threatening any structures.
