California couple celebrate 65th wedding anniversary at Chick-fil-A

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - An elderly California couple recently celebrated 65 years of marriage, and one of their marriage musts includes date nights to Chick-fil-A.

The staff at their Chick-fil-A of choice in Sacramento decided to honor the couple.

Big cheers Wednesday at a busy Chick-fil-A restaurant in Sacramento on Madison Avenue. Flowers, candles, a loving family, and a couple that deserves high praise.

Bonny and Lloyd Reynolds celebrated 65 years of marriage on Wednesday. June 21, 1958 is when they tied the knot.

"In Modesto...in Modesto...right after I got out of highschool," Bonny explained.

Lloyd chimed in saying, "12 days after she got out of highshool."

Secret to a long and succesful marriage

They've been a couple since Bonny was 14 and Lloyd was 17, and Lloyd still pulls the chair out for his wife before dinner.

A celebratory time Wednesday night, but the same dish every weekly date night: A cobb salad for Lloyd, a kids meal with four chicken nuggets for Bonny, and Diet Coke for both.

Even employees couldn't hold back their joy. So, what is the secret to their long and successful marriage?

"Commitment to each other is the starting point, and never think about divorce. You can work it through it," Bonnie responded.

And Lloyd has a ten-point plan. He shared the first-point in the plan.

"Make life-long commitments to each other and to your Lord and Savior Lord Jesus Christ," Lloyd spoke.
