Six killed in California plane crash, authorities investigates
MURRIETA, Calif. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A private jet plane crash Saturday morning in Murrieta has killed all six people on board, according to CBS News Los Angeles.
The Cessna C550 business jet crashed in a field near French Valley Airport. It had taken off from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, CBS News Los Angeles reported.
The impact fully ingulfed the plane and started a one-acre brush fire before Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire Department crews were able to extinguish the flames, according to CBS News Los Angeles.
Foggy conditions were observed during the time of the crash, but it's unclear what role weather played. An investigation into the crash will be handled by the National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Association (FAA), according to CBS News Los Angeles.
The identity of the victims have not been released.
