Californians hold first Juneteenth parade on Market Street

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - San Francisco hosted its first-ever Juneteenth Parade on Market Street Saturday, according to CBS News Bay Area.

The parade featured ten floats, classic cars and some cowboys.

Juneteenth marks the day the last enslaved African-Americans in the U.S. learned of their emancipation.

In 2021, President Biden declared June 19 to be a federal holiday, but some states do not recognize it.
