Fatal crash involving canal reported in Calexico
Crash occurred on Bowker Road north of Cole Road
CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - On March 25 at approximately 1 A.M. a woman veered off into the Acacia Main canal while driving a 2014 Toyota.
The crash was reported by a farm labor worker who found the vehicle upside down in the canal.
Due to the depth, authorities diverted the water in order to gain access to the vehicle.
The Jaws of Life were used by Imperial County Fire Fighters to recover the body of a forty year old hispanic female.
It was determined that a seatbelt was not in use during the crash.
It is uncertain if the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
