Arizona Supreme Court, nearby buildings evacuate due to suspicious package

PHOENIX (NBC, KYMA) - The Arizona Supreme Court and nearby buildings have been evacuated Monday afternoon in Phoenix due to a suspicious package.

According to an email to staff, the package sent to the court's mailroom tested positive for homemade explosives.

The message said a complete sweep of the building would be conducted and the package removed.

A number of agencies are on the scene including the ATF, DPS, Phoenix Police and Fire Departments.

There is no word on how long it could take to reopen the building, and staff have been told to work from home.
