Two arrested in armed robbery and aggravated assault

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Yuma Police Department (YPD) announced the arrest of two suspects in connection to an armed robbery and aggravated assault early Wednesday morning.

According to a press release, it happened in the area of S. Fourth Avenue and W. Fifth Street at around 12:20 a.m.

YPD says a 61-year-old man was riding his bicycle when two suspects "confronted him, stabbed him and took his bicycle," prompting them to deploy a drone to assist officers in locating and arresting the suspects after a foot chase.

Following the arrest, YPD says one of the suspects, an 18-year-old man, was booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Center on multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault and armed robbery.

At the same time, the other suspect, a 15-year-old boy, was booked into the Yuma County Juvenile Justice Center also on multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault and armed robbery, according to YPD.

YPD says the victim was taken to Onvida Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
