One woman dead from gunshot wound, YCSO investigates

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A 31-year-old Yuma woman died from a gunshot wound after midnight on Sunday.

According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO), at approximately 12:16am, deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the area of West 1st Street. Upon arrival, deputies found a woman with a gunshot wound and was unresponsive.

YCSO said the deputies performed life-saving procedures until the Rural Metro Fire Department arrived and took over. However, the victim, identified as 31-year-old Christian Galindo of Yuma, died from her injuries.

YCSO's Criminal Investigations Bureau took over the investigation, and revealed that Galindo was inside her home when a stray bullet struck her.
