CBP to implement new I-94 permit issuance at the Calexico Port of Entry

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) says they're "implementing a new Interstate 94 (I-94) permit issuance at the Calexico Port of Entry" next week.

In a press release, the process is expected to initiate on Monday, and is "designed to manage high volumes of travelers requiring I-94 travel permits upon entering the United States."

CBP says those "who arrive in vehicles," requiring I-94 permits at the Port of Entry, "will no longer be permitted to park on the north side of the border and enter the pedestrian processing building through the north-facing entry doors."

Instead, CBP says, "Travelers must now initiate the I-94 application process by entering through the pedestrian gate from Mexico into the U.S. and proceed to the designated issuance area inside the pedestrian processing building."

CBP also says, "I-94s will be issued daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.," with applicants experiencing "wait times at the pedestrian gate depending on processing volume."

However, to reduce wait times, CBP is encouraging those who want to apply to go online "for a provisional I-94 permit before arriving at the Port of Entry." They can submit the application through the CBP Home mobile app or online HERE.
