Mexican National Guard helping out the Yuma Sector Border Parol

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Border Patrol Yuma Sector is getting reinforcements from Mexico's National Guard to help solidify security at the southern border.

Around 400 Mexican military memebers recently made their way to the Yuma area.

Yuma Sector Chief Justin De La Torre explains what role the extra military members will focus on: "To be able to reduce some of the violence. I know that is a priority to them in San Luis Rio Colorado. They will be on patrol also preventing people from making people making illegal entry, preventing people from smuggling stuff into the country."

There is no timeline as to how long the military will stay at the border to offer their support.
