Yuma tops 200 thousand apprehensions since October 1st

FOX 9's Adam Klepp reports live from the Yuma Sector border

YUMA, Ariz. (KECY, KYMA) - The latest update from CBP has Yuma at just over 211,000 thousand total apprehensions since October 1st, more people than the entire population of Yuma County according to the 2020 census.

According to CBP, Yuma Sector agents apprehended over 33,000 migrants, an average of 1,000 a day throughout the month of May.

It was a slight increase from the total apprehension numbers and daily average from April.

The Yuma sector is the third busiest of the 9 border sectors when it comes to total apprehensions, behind only the Rio Grande Valley and Del Rio Sectors in texas.

As for the El Centro sector agents apprehended just under 7,000 migrants in May, a slight decrease compared to April.
