Migrant rescued by Border Patrol agents in canal

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) – El Centro Sector Border agents helped a migrant who was at risk of drowning in the New Briar Canal.

Friday at 11:49 p.m., a man was observed by video surveillance as he swam into the United States through the All-American Canal.

He proceeded through the New Briar Canal in order to float across and travel north.

Surveillance observed the person struggling in the water and alerted agents out on the field to respond and provide aid.

Agents arrived and rescued the person from the water, where he was then determined to be undocumented and transported to the El Centro Sector Centralized Processing Center.
