Border Patrol rescues four people near Ocotillo

OCOTILLO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents rescued four undocumented immigrants in the Jacumba Wilderness near Ocotillo.

U.S. Border Patrol says it received a call from Mexican officials Tuesday morning regarding a man who was in distress after crossing the border illegally.

The man stated he and three more people were lost in the mountains and had no food or water. Agents responded to the area using GPS coordinates provided by the man's phone. Agents found the lost individuals about an hour and a half later.

Agents said the men did not need medical attention. However, once they were processed into the system, they were sent them back to Mexico.

USBP says since October 2020, agents have rescued 112 individuals lost or in distress.
