Heavy rain leads to flooding in part of of Phoenix

PHOENIX (NBC, KYMA) - Heavy rain pounded the Phoenix area Wednesday, leading to flooding in parts of the city.

The storms brought nearly four inches of rain to some parts of the region in just a six-hour span.

Several flash flood warnings were issued by the National Weather Service throughout Maricopa County.

Many residents found themselves driving down streets that were turned into rivers by the massive amounts of water on the ground.

A ground-stop order was even issued at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

One police officer even jumped into action to push a stranded vehicle out of flooding that had covered a road.

The driver appeared to be okay as they got out of the car.
