FBI task force arrests violent fugitives throughout Arizona

PHOENIX (KYMA) - The FBI Phoenix Desert Hawk Task Force organized a two-week operation to arrest violent criminals.

Operation Can't Beat the Heat, according to the FBI, ran from August 10 to August 21, resulting in the arrest of over 120 fugitives.

The fugitives ranged from violent offenders, child sex offenders, fugitives with weapons violations and gang members, the FBI said.

In addition, the FBI named the following agencies who participated in the operation:

• Arizona Department of Corrections
• Arizona Department of Public Safety
• Coconino County Sheriff's Office
• Flagstaff Police Department
• Homeland Security Investigations
• Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO)
• Navajo Police Department
• Oro Valley Police Department
• Page Police Department
• Phoenix Police Department – FAID
• Pima County Sheriff’s Department
• Tucson Police Department
• U.S. Border Patrol
• U.S. Marshals Service

"This fugitive operation has demonstrated what is possible when law enforcement works together with a shared commitment to public safety," said Rebecca Day, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Phoenix Field Office. "We are grateful to every partner who contributed time, expertise, and resources. The close collaboration removed dangerous criminals from our streets, supported victims, and made Arizona neighborhoods safer."

The task force is comprised of the FBI, MCSO, Border Patrol and the Arizona Department of Corrections.
