BASE jumper in Arizona rescued

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA) - An Arizona BASE jumper is safe, thanks to a harrowing helicopter rescue, and it was all caught on video.

Video captured by the Arizona Department of Public Safety Rangers shows one rescuer descending from the helicopter, down over a cliff face in the Superstition Mountains.

As he gets closer to the rocky crags, the stranded BASE jumper comes into view on the edge of a rock formation, as well as what appears to be his wing suit sprawled along the cliff face.

Once the rescuer makes contact and straps the jumper in, the chopper pulls them back up over the outcroppings, safely extracting the patient, and takes them to the trailhead into the care of the Pinal County Sheriff's Office.

No additional details about the rescued jumper's condition, nor how he got on the cliff face were immediately released.
