RV explosion sparks Round Valley Fire in Arizona

RIO VERDE, Ariz. (CBS, KYMA) - A driver captured the moment a recreational vehicle exploded on a highway near Fountain Hills, Arizona Wednesday, sparking a wildfire that burned about 30 acres.

Footage captured by Conner Hunt shows black smoke rising from the vehicle before it's engulfed in a large explosion.

The cause of the fire had not been announced.

Hunt told Storyful that the explosion was caused by a television that exploded inside the vehicle.

Storyful reached out to the Arizona Fire & Medical Authority to confirm if a television exploded inside the vehicle, but had not received a response at the time of writing.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said that both directions of State Route 87 were closed after a wildfire, named the Round Valley Fire, erupted due to the explosion.

The route was later reopened.
