Arizona worker crushed to death while trimming a palm tree

TEMPE, Ariz. (CBS, KYMA) - A worker was crushed to death while apparently trimming a palm tree Sunday in Tempe, AZ.

Preliminary reports indicated the worker had scaled a palm tree when he was trapped and crushed by a dislodged collection of dead palm fronds.

A palm tree skirt can weigh hundreds of pounds. The victim died at the scene and was not publicly identified.

An investigation was underway.
