Two injured in mall shooting in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA) - Shoppers were forced to evacuate a Tucson mall Wednesday evening after a shooting sent two people to the hospital.

Police say two people were shot at Park Place Mall in Tucson and are now receiving medical care.

The shooting happened around 7 p.m., prompting a large police response and the immediate evacuation and closure of the mall.

Authorities say the situation was not considered an active shooter situation, and no other injuries have been reported.

Investigators believe the shooting appears to be isolated, but they are continuing to interview numerous witnesses who were inside at the time.

As of late Wednesday night, no suspects were in custody, and it remains unclear when the mall will reopen.
