Arizona State Capitol holds traditional tree lighting ceremony

PHOENIX (NBC, KYMA) - The holiday season has officially kicked off in Arizona with a traditional tree lighting.

This year's 30-foot Pinyon Pine is a gift from the Hualapai Tribe.

Last week, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management said they harvested the tree near Peach Springs, which is about 2.5 hours west of Sedona.

The tree then made its journey to the state capitol where it was officially lit, and will be on display through the holiday season in the Arizona Capitol Rotunda.
