Hail hammers cars as storm sweeps through Arizona

TEMPE, Ariz. (CBS, KYMA) - Hail pummeled a parking lot in Tempe, Arizona Tuesday as the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a special weather statement.

NWS warned half-inch hail and wind gusts up to 40 mph were possible. Earlier, locals were advised that scattered showers and storms were possible on Tuesday afternoon.

Footage shared by X user @azphotog75 shows heavy rain and hail lashing parked cars amid the weather event.

"A thunderstorm dropped some pea sized hail over us here in Tempe, Arizona at 2:20 PM this afternoon," he wrote in a post on X.
