Man arranged for death of three college students in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. (CNN, KYMA) - A man is facing manslaughter charges in the fatal hit and run of three University of Arizona students.

19-year-old Louis Artal was arraigned Monday.

Authorities say Artal admitted to police that he had been drinking before crashing his Porsche into a group of students who were in a crosswalk near campus on October 30. Police also say Artal left the scene and was later seen wearing blood-stained jeans.

The Pima County Sheriff's Office says he is being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond.

Artal was originally charged with murder, but the charges were downgraded after the prosecutor's office reviewed the evidence.
