Arizona woman reunites with her cat months after Dragon Bravo Fire

GRAND CANYON, Ariz. (CNN, KYMA) - An Arizona woman was distraught when she had to evacuate a wildfire, leaving her beloved cat behind, but her story shows dogs aren't the the only pets who can find their way back home.

Living at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon has its perks, but it's far from any major town.

"It's such a beautiful place and it's a remote place," said Lisa Frazee, who reunited with her cat.

So when Frazee was offered a seasonal job through the Grand Canyon Conservancy, bringing her cat Manny was a no brainer.

"He goes wherever I go and we've been dispersed camping for years," Frazee shared.

Frazee and Manny were living the dream. Frazee worked at the Visitor Center and manny hunted chipmunks, but their dream turned into a nightmare this summer when the Dragon Bravo Fire forced them to evacuate, but Manny was nowhere to be seen.

"Nobody thought we were going to have to leave. We had to go and my heart was just sick. But I also knew that if anybody was going to survive it, it would be him," Frazee said.

It destroyed over 100 buildings and burned 100 more.

Frazee had to wait six weeks until she could get back in. That's when she found Manny hiding under a trailer.

"It was a miracle as far as I was concerned," Frazee expressed.

Since then, Manny has recovered and is sticking closer to home.

"He's always waiting for me. He knows where home is. Wherever the trailer is, he knows that's home," Frazee disclosed.

The ordeal gave Frazee an idea. She's hoping to write a children's book about Manny's adventure.
