Police in Arizona capture runaway emu

COTTONWOOD, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA) - Police in Cottonwood, Arizona were able to capture a pretty cagey character earlier this week.

A 60-pound, flightless emu named Frank had been on the run for about two days before officers were finally able to catch up and get it under control.

Footage captured shows the end of that man, or rather bird-hunt as an animal control officer tried to keep Frank calm while trapped in a net.

Police say the key to the capture was to get Frank to run into a corner, because emus can't walk backwards due to the way their legs work.

Frank's owner was also on hand and was able to get him back home unharmed.
