Man responsible for murder of Arizona family executed
PHOENIX (KYMA) - A man responsible for the murder of an Arizona family back in the 1990s was executed Friday morning.
55-year-old Richard Kenneth Djerf died at around 10:40 a.m. after he was sentenced to be executed by lethal injection at the Arizona state prison.
Djerf pleaded guilty to four counts of murder in 1993 for the murders of Albert Luna Sr., his wife Patricia, and their 18-year-old and five-year-old children in a Phoenix home.
In a news conference, John Barcello, the Deputy Director of the Arizona Department of Corrections, says the execution was carried out properly.
"I personally observed the process of the events today, including the execution. I can say the process went according to ADCRR policy and procedure," Barcello explained.
Djerf was the second person in Arizona to be executed by lethal injection this year.
