Recovery work continues across Gila County after destructive flooding

GLOBE, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA) - Recovery work is continuing in Arizona after destructive weekend flooding caused significant damage to communities in Gila County.

As many as three people died when heavy rain flooded roads Friday. The Towns of Globe, Miami, Claypool and San Carlos were affected.

Globe Mayor Al Gamero said there was around 200 people helping with the recovery effort in the city Sunday, and said the city expects more people to help with the cleanup in the coming days.

Governor Katie Hobbs (D-Ariz.) declared a state of emergency to release funds to help with recovery.
