Severe weather in Phoenix causes roads to be flooded

PHOENIX (NBC, KYMA) - Severe weather in Phoenix is causing flooding, making many roads impassable and creating dangerous driving conditions for residents.

Phoenix received over an inch of rain (1.64") Friday, the most recorded in a single day since 2018.

The downpour left several roads completely flooded, causing vehicles to become stuck and roads to close.

The neighboring city of Globe was also impacted by flooding which turned deadly, with the mayor confirming, "Several people have died after floodwaters swept through the area."

First responders are still actively searching for people swept away in the flood, and meteorologists say Sunday should start a drying trend for the area.
