Three dead, two injured in home invasion shooting in Phoenix

PHOENIX (CBS, KYMA) - Police are investigating a deadly crime scene in south Phoenix after a shooting Tuesday night.

It happened in the area of 24th Street and Southern Avenue. When police arrived, they found three men who had been shot.

All three later died from their injuries, the Phoenix Police Department (PPD) said. Two other people were also shot, but their injuries are not as serious.

Lt. Lorraine Fernandez with PPD confirmed the shooting happened after a reported home break-in.

A CBS affiliate news crew was at the scene Wednesday morning found one person's body still at the scene. However, it's unclear what the person's involvement was in the shooting.

The area was still partially closed Wednesday morning while investigators worked the scene.

Video from the scene shows police focusing on a crash involving a small white SUV and a white sedan. Both vehicles are partially on the sidewalk near the street sign for 24th Street.

Detectives are still working to process the scene. It is unclear if a suspect is in custody, but the CBS affiliate saw police take away a man in handcuffs who they say was detained for questioning.
