Charlie Kirk’s funeral to be held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale
GLENDALE, Ariz. (CBS, KYMA) - Funeral arrangements have been announced for late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated while speaking at a Utah university earlier this week.
Turning Point USA announced that the funeral for Kirk will be held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale Sunday, September, 21. Doors will open at 8 a.m., and the program begins at 11 a.m.
Kirk was killed by a single shot in what police said was a targeted attack, with Utah Governor Spencer Cox calling it a political assassination.
Kirk co-founded the nonprofit political organization Turning Point USA, based in Arizona. He had been speaking at a debate hosted by Turning Point at Utah Valley University at the time of Wednesday's shooting.
A manhunt was launched to find the reported assassin. On Friday, authorities announced Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested in connection with the deadly shooting.
