National Park Service shows images of Dragon Bravo Fire aftermath

(CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Roughly one week after the Dragon Bravo Fire exploded in size, the National Park Service shared images of the aftermath.

Dozens of structures, including the North Rim Visitors Center, cabins and the Grand Canyon Lodge, were destroyed.

The park has since closed the North Rim to visitors for the rest of the season.

By Sunday morning, the lightning-caused Dragon Bravo Fire had burned 12,645 acres and was 8% contained.

Fire crews continued to brave high temperatures and gusty winds. Forecasts called for the possibility of thunderstorms returning this week.
