Third farm in Maricopa County tests positive for bird flu

MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A third farm in Maricopa County tests positive for Avian Flu.

Also known as bird flu, poultry began showing clinical signs consistent with the disease about a week ago.

The farm in Maricopa County has been placed under quarantine.

Eggs produced after the onset of clinical signs of illness have not entered the food supply, and there have been no signs of illness in humans.

According to the CDC, the risk to the general public is considered low. Those most at risk are the ones directly involved with the daily care of birds.

Consumers in Arizona and around the nation can remain confident in the safety and quality of eggs and egg products.
