One dead, one injured in gunfight in Phoenix

PHOENIX (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A woman is dead, and a teen is hurt after a gunfight in west Phoenix early Sunday morning.

The Phoenix Police Department (PPD) were called to a shooting near 33rd Avenue and Willetta Street, just south of McDowell Road, around 2:00 a.m.

As officers were arriving, a large group of people were seen running and driving off from a large house party.

Police say the gunfight stemmed from an argument that happened at the party. Detectives found over 300 shell casings throughout the area. Multiple homes and vehicles were hit by the gunfire.

When officers arrived they found a woman, later identified as 21-year-old Amanda Franco, who was shot. She died at the scene.

Police say they received additional information that a teen walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound. He is expected to survive. No other injuries were reported.

"We just heard a lot of gunshots. One of the bullets actually hit the window, going inside, hitting a pan that ricocheted and hit the wall into a wifi adaptor. So yeah, definitely woke us up," one witness said.

Detectives believe people possibly took videos of the incident and are asking them to share the information with investigators.

Witnesses can click here to access the portal to submit their videos. Anyone with information can also call PPD or Silent Witness.
