Arizona non-profit organization features five local Yumans in flagship program
Arizona Center for Rural Leadership helps equip and empower local leaders to meet the needs of rural Arizona communities
YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma County representatives are participating in a flagship program, Project CENTRL, Class 32, where they will travel and participate in nine seminars to explore leadership lessons from all perspectives.
Arizona Center for Rural Leadership's Project CENTRL has trained over 700 Arizona leaders since 1983.
About sixteen participants were selected for Class 32 and will be traveling the state for the next 12 months and will participate in nine seminars.
The nine seminars include Effective Communication, Natural Resources, and the Rural Economy, State Budget Basics: Healthcare, Education & Corrections, Agriculture in an International Border Community, and Public Policy in Arizona.
The first seminar, Fundamentals of Leadership, happened on June 1-3 in Chandler, Arizona, where participants were provided opportunities to learn personal communication, learning styles, and network.
Participants will travel to Sonora, Mexico; Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C.
Arizona Center for Rural Leadership said the program also culminates with a team "Make A Difference" projects where class graduates address how they would help address and solve some of rural Arizona's crucial issues and challenges.
The Yuma County representatives that are participating in Class 32 of Project CENTRL are Kirk Dunn, Emilia Cortez, Javier Medina, Jesus Andrade, and Mike Clements.
