Border Patrol agents arrest Guatemalan on assault charges
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Last week, the United States Border Patrol (USBP) agents arrested a Guatemalan citizen.
According to a press release, USBP charged 23-year-old Edy Eduardo Sicajan-Jochola for Assault on a Federal Officer.
Not only that, USBP also charged Sicajan-Jochola for Improper Entry by an Alien.
The arrest occurred on November 29.
Details about the crime
When the victim located Sicajan-Jochola and another undocumented immigrant near Sasabe, Arizona, the victim approached the two immigrants.
That was when Sicajan-Jochola took off his backpack and struck the victim in the face and shoulder, causing the victim to fall down.
After fleeing the scene, USBP later apprehended and arrested Sicajan-Jochola.
However, they were unable to arrest the other immigrant.
Charges Sicajan-Jochola could face
Furthermore, the charge of assaulting a federal officer is up to eight years in prison, a fine up to $250,000, or both.
In addition, the charge of illegal entry into the United States is up to six months in prison, a fine up to $5,000, or both.
