Maricopa County will not reuse equipment from 2020 election audit

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - Arizona's largest county says it will not reuse any of the voting equipment turned over for the controversial audit of the 2020 election.

Maricopa County handed over the equipment to contractors hired by the Republican-controlled state senate to conduct the audit, which has come under fire for its lack of transparency.

County officials shared concerns in a letter that contractors were not certified to handle election equipment. Maricopa County posted on its website "as a result the county will not use the subpoenaed equipment in any future elections."

They also said they are working on interim plans to prepare for upcoming elections.
