Six officers, four others transported to Phoenix hospital after HAZMAT situation

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - Phoenix police say six officers and four other people were transported to a hospital after being sprayed with pepper spray and an "unknown substance" on Monday evening.

The incident happened around 5:30 pm at the Capri on Camelback apartment complex in Phoenix.

Police said there were four people inside an apartment with illegal drugs and the people became upset so a victim called 911.

When officers arrived, they walked into a pepper spray fog and another unknown substance.

The Phoenix Fire Department HAZMAT team arrived and is now working with Phoenix police to determine if the apartment will be safe to re-enter
