Funeral held for ASU student found dead in his dorm

Arizona State University

Would have turned 21 next month

PHOENIX, AZ - Ivan Aguirre, aged 20, was found in his Arizona State University (ASU) dorm in Tempe earlier this month. Yesterday, he was remembered at his funeral.

Aguirre was found dead in his dorm room in the Greek Leadership Village, where fraternity and sorority housing is located. Police have said foul play is not suspected.

His cause of death has not been released, reports NBC12.

Friends and family remembered Aguirre at a funeral mass held at Brophy Chapel in Phoenix, and his service was attended by many.

His mother spoke of him as a "junior, college student that has maintained a 3.5 GPA the entire time (and) is not a bad kid that is heavily on drugs," in a report by azcentral.

Aguirre was studying sports management, and dreamed of a career in sports.

Aguirre's uncle hopes the family may create a scholarship fund in his name for ASU students.
