Florida Republican Rick Scott wins a second term in the U.S. Senate

NAPLES, Fla. (AP) — Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Scott easily won a second term against former Democratic U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. Scott now aims to run for Senate leadership to succeed the retiring U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell. His victory Tuesday also reaffirmed the strength of Florida’s Republican Party despite ballot measures on abortion rights and recreational marijuana legalization that Democrats hoped would drive up turnout.
