WASHINGTON (AP) — New York voters will choose candidates in local primary elections held across the state Tuesday. In New York City, 23 City Council primaries will be held throughout the city. The most notable council race is the Democratic primary in District 9, where two state assembly members and a member of the exonerated “Central Park Five” vie for an open seat. Elsewhere in the city, the incumbent Democratic district attorneys in the Bronx and Queens face primary challenges. The City Council races will use a ranked-choice voting system, which allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference.
