Flights in Dallas resume amid unrest in Mexico

DALLAS (NBC, KYMA) - Americans stranded in Western Mexico finally headed home Tuesday night after days of cartel violence prompted shelter-in-place advisories.

The U.S. State Department lifted its advisory Tuesday as conditions began to stabilize.

Travelers crowded Puerto Vallarta International Airport, scrambling for outbound flights as service resumed.

The first arrivals landed at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, where passengers say they were relieved to be back in the U.S.

Airlines, including American Airlines and Southwest Airlines, are waiving change fees for travelers impacted by the unrest.
