Grand jury declines to indict Democrats asking troops to refuse illegal orders
WASHINGTON (KYMA, CNN) - Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) and Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) are holding a press conference Wednesday morning.
According to a press release, this is in response to a federal grand jury declining to indict six Democrat lawmakers who posted a video urging U.S. service members to disobey illegal orders from the Trump Administration.
Sen. Slotkin reacted to the grand jury's decision saying the attempted indictment was part of President Donald Trump's efforts to "weaponize the justice system against his perceived enemies."
Sen. Kelly called the attempt to bring charges against him and the other Democrats an outrageous abuse of power by President Trump and his "lackies."
Earlier this month, a federal judge heard arguments regarding a lawsuit brought by Kelly in a effort to block Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's move to cut his military retirement pay and reduce his rank.
