California mother accused of killing her daughter appears in court
LOMPOC, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - The California woman accused of the planned killing of her nine-year-old daughter appeared in court Wednesday.
Ashlee Buzzard is charged with first-degree murder in the death of nine-year-old Melodee.
Buzzard waived her right to a preliminary hearing within 60-days, so that hearing will be held in April at the earliest.
The defense is requesting a gag order prohibiting law enforcement from discussing the case publicly.
Buzzard, 40, is being held without bail.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff says it's believed she shot her daughter in the head during a multi-state road trip last year, leaving the girl's body in a remote area of Utah.
