Study says music can lower risk of dementia

(NBC, KYMA) - If you love music and listen often, you maybe doing yourself more of a favor than you know.

Australian researchers at Monash University conducted a study recently and found that people who listen to music regularly have lower rates of cognitive decline.

The researchers looked at more than 10,000 adults and found that those who listened to music daily had a 39%reduced risk of dementia.

Playing a musical instrument was also associated with a lower risk of dementia compared to those who rarely listen to or play music.

This is according to findings from a study conducted at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.
