Deputy U.S. Marshal injured while serving a warrant with ICE in South Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA) - A deputy U.S. Marshal was among the two people injured following a shooting in South Los Angeles Tuesday.
The shooting happened just before 9:00 a.m.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Marshals was assisting ICE agents with serving a warrant to a suspect wanted for illegal entry.
DHS said during an attempted traffic stop, the suspect used their vehicle to ram into a law enforcement car to try and flee the scene. That is when officers opened fire, shooting the suspect in the elbow.
A U.S. Marshal was also shot in the hand by a ricochet bullet.
Both the U.S. Marshal and the suspect were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
