Fire crews in Arizona rescue a family of 11 hikers
PHOENIX (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Fire crews rescued a family of 11 hikers Sunday on a mountain in Phoenix.
The Phoenix Fire Department (PFD) says it got a call for help around noon from the hikers on South Mountain, saying they were experiencing heat exhaustion.
Multiple children were unable to continue the hike. Some people were taken down the mountain on what appears to be a stretcher.
After being treated, PFD says the group refused to be taken to the hospital.
The mountain trail they were on was closed Sunday due to the heat as the high was 112 degrees.
