Shedeur Sanders’ draft slide ends as Browns Take QB in Fifth Round
After a surprising wait, Shedeur Sanders is officially headed to the NFL.
GREEN BAY, Wisc. (KYMA, KECY) -Â The Cleveland Browns traded up in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft to select the former Colorado quarterback with the 144th overall pick.
Sanders, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, had been projected by some analysts as a Day 2 selection, but slid all the way into Day 3.
The Browns had already drafted quarterback Dillon Gabriel in the third round, but saw an opportunity and moved up to grab Sanders by trading picks with the Seattle Seahawks.
"I don't ever focus on the negative," Sanders said on a conference call after being picked. "For me, it's just about playing quarterback. Now it's time to work."
Sanders threw for more than 3,200 yards and 27 touchdowns in his final season with the Buffaloes, showing accuracy and poise in the pocket, traits that helped make him one of the most talked-about quarterbacks in the country.
Now, he'll begin the next chapter in Cleveland, where he joins a crowded quarterback room and a team still figuring out the future.
